Town Council

The Town Council conducts business under a Council / Manager form of government approved by the citizens of Bucksport in 1971. Prior to that, the Town operated under a town meeting form of government. The Town Council's powers and duties are identified in Article 1 of the Bucksport Town Charter, which is found in Appendix A of the Bucksport Town Code. The Town Council serves as the general legislative body of the Town, and the Town Manager, who is appointed by the Town Council, serves as the Chief Administrative Official of the Town.

The Town Council operates under rules identified in Appendix B of the Bucksport Town Code. Regular Council meetings are held at the Bucksport Town Office on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month at 7:00 p.m. Meeting agendas are posted at the Town Office and on the website. Meeting agendas are also provided to the local press.

Meetings are open to the public and may also be viewed on the Town's local cable access channel (3013) and online at bucksportmaine.gov. Records of all Town Council proceedings are maintained by the Town Clerk at the Town Office and are available for public inspection during normal business hours. Previous recordings are housed at townhallstreams.com.
